❓ How long does a dive last?

The duration of a dive depends on several factors – especially depth, your air consumption, and local conditions.
At Chang Diving, we use standard S80 aluminum tanks (11.1 liters / 80 cuft at 200 bar), which corresponds to about 2220 liters of breathing gas.
On average, around 1665 liters can be actively used while diving, with the rest kept as a safety reserve.

Under normal conditions, the typical dive time is 50–60 minutes. Depending on breathing rate, depth, and current, actual dive time can be shorter or longer.
💡 Tip: Calm breathing and shallower depths extend your underwater time – we explain why in this article

❓ How deep can I dive?

The maximum allowed dive depth depends on your certification level:
Open Water Diver: up to 18 meters
Advanced Open Water Diver: up to 30 meters
Deep Diver Specialty: up to 40 meters – this is the maximum limit for recreational diving

Deeper than 40 meters or dives with planned decompression already belong to technical diving and require special training.
For Try Dives, we stay in shallow, safe areas of around 5 to 12 meters.

❓ Do I need prior diving experience to dive with you?

No, for a Try Dive (introductory dive) you don’t need any prior experience – perfect for beginners!
Our experienced dive instructors will guide you step-by-step, from your first breath to your dive in the sea.

If you wish to complete a full diving course like the Open Water Diver, you should be able to swim and be in normal physical health.

If you’re prone to motion sickness, we strongly recommend taking a seasickness pill 30–60 minutes before boarding.

Better safe than sorry – it helps you enjoy the dive day to the fullest! 😊

How is the dive day organized?

On the dive day, we will pick you up from your hotel (exact time will be sent the day before via our pickup confirmation email) – or you can meet us at the dive center at 8:00 AM or directly at the boat departure point on the beach at 8:15 AM.

What time will we return from the dive trip?

Return time depends on several factors – the dive sites we visit (travel distance), the number of dives (2 or 3), and how many divers are on board. For example, a group of 10 divers takes more time than 5.
In general, we return to Klong Prao Beach between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Don’t forget to consider the transfer time from the beach back to your hotel.

❓ What is the water temperature around Koh Chang?

The water temperature around Koh Chang is pleasant all year – typically between 28°C and 33°C.

A thin shorty is often enough. However, we recommend a long-sleeved wetsuit to protect against sun, jellyfish, and minor scratches – especially for multiple dives a day.
