How Fun Diving at Chang Diving Works – Step-by-Step (2025, Koh Chang)

Who Can Join Our Fun Dives?

If you hold a recognized scuba diving certification (Open Water Diver or higher) from any diving agency, you’re welcome to join our fun dives.

We accept certifications from organizations such as:

PADI
SDI / TDI
SSI
CMAS / VDST
RAID
NAUI and others

👉 Just bring your certification card (physical or digital) and a positive attitude!

Technical Diving on HTMS Chang Wreck

We also offer technical dives on the HTMS Chang wreck – the only dive site around Koh Chang where full technical penetration dives are truly rewarding.

A typical technical dive profile on the HTMS Chang includes:

Bottom gas: EAN32 (Nitrox 32%)
Travel gas: EAN40–45%
Deco gas: EAN100 (pure oxygen)
Bottom time: Approximately 120 minutes (depending on your gas planning and dive plan)

👉 Important: To participate in such extended technical dives, you must be a certified Technical Diver (e.g., TDI Decompression Procedures, Advanced Nitrox, or equivalent from recognized agencies).

Due to the complexity and longer duration of these dives, careful planning is required. Especially during the high season, it may not always be possible to organize technical dives alongside standard recreational trips.

How Many Dives Per Day?

Our standard dive trips include 2 boat dives per day.

We focus on quality over quantity – giving you plenty of bottom time, relaxed surface intervals, and a full experience at each site.

Each dive usually lasts around 50 to 60 minutes, depending on your air consumption, comfort, and diving conditions.

⭐️ Want to dive more? We offer a third dive on request every day!

When booking your fun dives, you can easily add an Extra Dive during the booking process on our website.

Price for Extra Dive: 800 THB
Example: 2 dives = 3,290 THB → with extra dive (3 dives total) = 4,090 THB

Please note: Adding a third dive depends on weather conditions and schedule, but we do our best to make it happen if requested!

⚓ Important Rules for Wreck Dives on HTMS Chang:

To dive on the HTMS Chang Wreck you must be certified as Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD) or higher.
Open Water Divers may dive the wreck if they can show proof of at least 25 logged dives and previous deep diving experience.
Penetration dives (inside the wreck) are only allowed for divers with both Deep Diver and Wreck Diver Specialty Certifications.
Without a Wreck Diver Certification: No inside penetration – only outside exploration around the wreck.

Can You Guarantee Whale Sharks, Turtles, or Dolphins?

While Koh Chang is home to a rich variety of marine life, nature has its own plans. 🐋🐢🐬

We can never guarantee sightings of specific animals like whale sharks or turtles.
However, every dive is an adventure – and the ocean sometimes brings amazing surprises!

What About Weather Conditions?

We often get emails like “I’m coming in December – how’s the weather?” – sent in June! 😅

The truth is:

December is usually part of Koh Chang’s dry season.
Visibility and dive conditions are typically good, but the ocean is always dynamic and conditions can vary.
Exact weather forecasts are only reliable a few days in advance.

Daily Schedule – Step-by-Step

07:15–07:45 AM: Hotel pickup
08:15 AM: Departure of our dive boat (Pirm Udom Sub)
Morning: First dive at selected dive site
Surface Break: Relax on board with fruits, water, and soft drinks
Lunch:
- On standard 2-dive days: Lunch is served between the two dives during the surface interval.
- On 3-dive days: Lunch is served between the second and third dive.
Late Morning / Early Afternoon: Second dive (or third dive if booked)
1:00–4:00 PM: Return to Klong Prao Beach (depending on conditions and number of dives)

High-quality rental equipment (or tank & weights if you have your own gear)

Can I dive if my certification is from a different agency?
Yes, we accept certifications from all recognized organizations.
Can I dive alone if I have my buddy?
We keep it personal: small groups with a maximum of 5 divers per guide – or private guides are available on request.
Experienced buddy teams are welcome to explore the dive site independently after the dive briefing.

Certified solo divers with proper equipment are also allowed to dive solo.
Is it possible to do 3 dives a day?
In special cases, yes – but it must be requested and confirmed in advance.
Do you offer Nitrox?
Yes! Nitrox is available upon request for certified divers (additional fee applies).
Do you offer dive insurance?
We recommend adding optional dive insurance for extra safety.
