HTMS Chang – Thailand’s Largest Artificial Reef

The HTMS Chang is one of Thailand’s most renowned wreck diving sites. Originally a landing ship for the US Navy (USS Lincoln County) in the 1940s, it was later transferred to the Thai Navy. After being decommissioned, it was sunk off the coast of Koh Chang in November 2012 to create an artificial reef. With a length of 100 meters and depths ranging from 5–30 meters, it’s perfect for divers of all skill levels.

HTMS Thonburi – A Monument from the Battle of Koh Chang

The HTMS Thonburi was a Thai coastal battleship that played a key role during the Battle of Koh Chang on January 17, 1941. This battle was part of the Franco-Thai War and marked a pivotal moment in modern Thai history, eventually leading to a truce mediated by Japan.

During the battle, the HTMS Thonburi faced superior French naval forces. The ship sustained heavy damage from artillery fire and eventually sank off the coast near Long Beach on Koh Chang. Despite the losses, a monument was established to honor the bravery and determination of the Thai Navy.
